Growing up in the calorie-counting era of the '80s and '90s, I was part of a generation obsessed with achieving the "perfect" body. We were led to believe that skinny was the ultimate goal, and we went to extreme lengths to achieve it. From starving ourselves to embracing low-fat diets and spending countless hours working out, we were all chasing the same elusive ideal.
After battling an eating disorder in my childhood and teens, I grew up and moved into my 30s and 40s thinking that constant trips to the bathroom after eating a meal were just part of my normal life. Boy, was I wrong! It wasn't until I was in my 40s that I realized there was a better way.
I traded in my cardio queen, 26.2 mile running crown and calorie-counting obsession for a holistic approach to health.
I started leaning into educating myself on what real health is and learning about the power of real food.
